Today



Depois da sua visita ao Porto em 2008 (Outubro), a filósofa Judith Butler volta a Portugal. Hoje o maria matos, em Lisboa, vai recebê-la no interior da programação que assinala os 25 anos da edição de «Gender Trouble» (Nova Iorque, 1990), o livro em que Judith desenvolve a sua teoria feminista, e que veio a ser globalmente conhecido e texto fundador da teoria queer, como ela nos diz no prefácio da segunda edição (Routledge, 1999). Professora de Retórica e Literatura Comparada da Universidade da Califórnia, em Berkeley,  destacam-se ainda na sua obra, entre outros estudos, «Bodies thar matter» (Routledge, Nova Iorque e Londres, 1993) e «Undoing gender» (Routledge, Nova Iorque e Londres, 2004), de que retiro o seguinte excerto:

«What I call my own "gender" appears perhaps at times as something that I author or, indeed, own. But the terms that make up one's own gender are, from the start, outside oneself, beyond oneself in a sociality that has no single author (and that radically contests the notion of authorship itself)».
